The Story Development Service is required for all new screenplay and ghostwriting projects that are not accompanied by existing book or completed screenplay. The Story Development Service consists of ten (10) one hour long phone conversations between the client and the screenwriter in order for the screenwriter to gather the material needed to complete the first draft of the screenplay. These one hour phone conversations are typically conducted during business hours Monday through Friday (EST) between the client and the screenwriter, but can vary depending on the specific needs of the client.
Once a Story Development Service is agreed upon, a Non-Disclosure Form is signed by both the client and the screenwriter before the Screenplay Development Service begins. This Non-Disclosure Form ensures the client has sole legal rights to the screenplay idea and not the screenwriter. (NOTE: Feel free to request the Non-Disclosure Form along with any other contract use by my screenwriting/ghostwriting services).
Once the Story Development Service is completed a detailed outline of the story will be provided to the client. This detailed outline includes a complete 25 scene breakdown of the entire story based on a five act structure. The outline includes details of each scene, along with the story structure, including plot points and plot twists, and character arcs for the main character(s). The outline also contains elements of both the genre and theme.
The Story Development Outline helps to ensure that both the client and screenwriter are in total agreement as to what will be written in the first draft of the screenplay. This saves countless hours of screenwriting time by ensuring the idea meets all the demands of film industry (in terms of the story requirements stated above) -- BEFORE the actual screenwriting begins.
As with all my writing services, the Story Development Process is entered into with the use of an Agreement Form. The Agreement Form is signed by both the screenwriter and the client and states the screenplay idea remains the sole property of the client alone and not the screenwriter. See my Services and Fees section for more details about this service. You can also send me an email to discuss your specific screenwriting needs anytime.
(NOTE: Most writers do not provide this service and can waste countless hours of writing time by not knowing where the story and characters are taking them before they begin the writing process. Once this mistake is made several rewrites maybe needed in order to get the screenplay back on track in terms of structure and genre. Make sure you hire someone who is a professionally trained and educated screenwriter who knows the industry standards so you do not end up wasting valuable time and resources by hiring an inexperienced writer.)
